Zumba Portland

Help! What do I wear?

Shoes that allow you to pivot without too much traction and comfortable clothes you can move in. Workout clothes. If you're a woman, you will definitely want to wear a sports bra and maybe even a camisole (tank top with extra support) over top of it if you want the extra support. We jump around a lot.

Do I have to buy special shoes?

Nope. Especially if you're just trying Zumba for the first time. If you have sneakers with good support that don't have too much tread on the bottom, those are fine. Some people have tried to do Zumba barefoot, but I don't recommend it. We jump and bounce and do some light stomping, so a shoe with decent support for your joints is better.

Do you accept cards?

Yes! I accept credit cards on my iPhone with the help of Square. I also accept cash and checks if you'd prefer.

Do you offer childcare?

I don't, but the Woodlawn Swap 'N Play is directly downstairs from the Village Ballroom and you may be able to work something out with a friend. You can check out the Woodlawn Swap 'N Play site here.

Do I have to be a dancer? I'm so uncoordinated.

What if I buy a punch card and then lose it?

Aha! I've thought of that very scenario and worked out a system where you leave your punch card in class and then punch it when you arrive. It travels with me so you don't have to worry about it. Problem solved!

No, you do not have to be a dancer. Zumba is for any person who's okay with not knowing everything from the beginning and being open to rolling with what comes. You just follow along.

How often are classes?

Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. It's better if you arrive early so that we can start at the stroke of 6:30.

It's normal to feel a little lost. It happens to me when I take other instructors' classes. Just remember that Zumba isn't about getting it right, it's about moving and having fun. Don't worry. You'll do great!

Do you offer any weekend classes?

I'm on the lookout for a space to offer weekend classes. Stay tuned!

I've taken other Zumba classes and I felt so lost. Can you help me?

Can I bring my teenage daughter with me to Zumba?

Any child who is 16 years older is welcome in class by themselves. Kids aged 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult. They just need to know that the class is largely comprised of adults and that they're going to need to dance like everyone else!
